SHARP

S is for Software

Creating and compiling music and educational resources using a variety of media for sharing

Through its passion for diversity, creativity and innovation The Wallace Collection has created an all encompassing musical ethos.  SHARP is a five-point focus to pursue the exceptional and the extraordinary in brass music, with the aim to benefit all who engage with this musical passion.

Publications from The Wallace Collection

Members of The Wallace Collection have contributed to an extensive collection of compositions, arrangements, transcriptions, tutors, solo collections and examination compilations.

Time has been dedicated to researching and authoring reference books such as Yale University Press’s The Trumpet (co-authored by John Wallace and Alexander McGrattan), the Cambridge University Press’s Companion to Brass Instrument’s (co-edited by Trevor Herbert and John Wallace), providing valuable insights to the development and significance of brass instruments and their music from origins to present day.

Future Publications in the Pipeline

The Wallace Collection has established an exciting new alliance with Nimbus Music Publishing to produce their future printed catalogue of publications, whilst digital and online innovations will be adopted to circulate other educational, instructional and informative resources.

Through the creation of a varied selection of original compositions accommodating soloists through to ensembles at all levels; by the re-release of new Editions of archived works; by encouraging the commissioning of new brass compositions from emerging writers; and via the transcription (for modern playability) of significant historical works that have been undiscovered/un-played until now, and by creating videos and reference materials; The Wallace Collection has embarked upon the role of Curators of an exciting, ambitious and critical musical legacy for the world of brass performers and audiences.
